In 1999, Business.com was resold for $7.5 million which, according to Guinness World Records, was the most expensive domain name in the world. This was however surpassed in 2006 when Boston-based Escom, LLC. purchased Sex.com for a reported $14 million. Although, sources from Reuters state that the amount was actually between $11.4-12 million, it would still make it the world’s most expensive.
