World’s Most Expensive Cocktail

PRICE: $71,011.50 (per glass)
WHERE TO BUY IT: Movida (London) 020 7734 5776

Although the Guinness World Records named the “Trader Vic’s Original Mai Tai” the most expensive cocktail in the world at £750 (€1110; $1425), we’ve found one that tops that completely.

They call it Flawless and at $71,011.50 a glass, it should be. The cocktail is exclusively available at the London nightclub, Movida and it’s officially the world’s most expensive Christmas cocktail according to the Daily Mail.

Why $71,011.50 for a glass you ask? The cocktails ingredients include a large measure of Louis XII cognac (about $1,500 a bottle), half a bottle of Cristal Rose champagne (about $700 a bottle), some brown sugar, angostura bitters (which can cost $100-$200 per bottle) and a few flakes of 24-carat edible gold leaf.

However, the real extravagance is an 11-carat white diamond ring – which can be found at the bottom of the every glass.

Don’t worry about getting jumped while drinking one. 2 security guards must oversee not only the pouring, mixing and serving of every glass of Flawless but they will also stand by watching over your table, until the last sip, to make sure that no one will bother you as you drink it.

No doubt this will be the engagement method of choice for some of London’s most affluent this season! Undeniably memorable, just hopefully not as the night your wife-to-be choked on a massive diamond. Hopefully the security guys are up to par on their Heimlich.

Most Expensive Prep School in the U.S.

PRICE: $40,780 (for boarders) and $32,625 (for day students)
WHERE TO BUY: The Middlesex School 978-369-2550

Attending a prep school can give a teenager numerous advantages over their publically taught counterparts. They’ll have access to equipment and facilities that no public school can provide, they’ll be able to network with peers from influential families and they’ll be educated in a far more rigorous manner. These advantages can come with a hefty price tag, though.

The most expensive prep school in the US is Concord, Massachusetts’ Middlesex School. Founded in 1901 by Frederick Winsor, Middlesex started as a non-denominational, all-boys’ school. Additionally, Winsor’s scholarship program was a first for secondary schools. Combined, the non-denominational policy and scholarship program had the effect of drawing students from across the country to attend the school.

The most expensive prep school emphasizes long and largely unchanged traditions, such as the carving of a plaque by every student in the graduating class. Traditions like this have been kept in place by the school’s headmaster, a position that has only been filled by five people since the school’s founding over a century ago.

Tuition at Middlesex School is $40,780 for boarders and $32,625 for day students. 108 of the school’s 346 students receive an average grant of $30,740 to attend the most expensive prep school in the US.

World’s Most Expensive Speeches

PRICE: $1.5 million each (estimated)

Donald Trump (Photo by Boss Tweed. Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license.)

Donald Trump may talk a good talk, but did you know he also talks the most expensive talk? The real estate mogul, television personality and world’s 314th richest person gave seventeen speeches at The Learning Annex’s real estate wealth expos in 2006 and 2007. These seventeen speeches were the most expensive in the world, earning The Donald $1.5 million each. He was no stranger to The Learning Annex at that point, as he’d made a round of the world’s most expensive speeches at their 2005 expos. At the time he only earned $1 million.

Former president Ronald Reagan was no stranger to million dollar speeches either. He was paid $2 million by media company Fujisankei Communications for two speeches and a handful of press interviews during a tour of Japan. Considering the fact that this happened in 1989, we may consider these the most expensive speeches ever made. After all, adjusting for inflation reveals that he was paid over $1.7 million per speech in today’s currency.
